I got there around 8pm and left around 2:30am. Over the course of the night, I drank and smoke and donked off about $400.<br /><br />I'm not sure what game I was playing, but it wasn't mine. I sat down and my starting hand requirements went straight out the window.<br /><br />The reasons that I sucked:<br />#1. I was uncomfortable playing at this club for the first time, and for some reason I wanted everyone to think/know that I was a loose player.<br />Lesson #1 - Fuck everyone else. Make sure you are playing your game before you worry about your image. Who gives a shit what your table image is if you are playing bad poker.<br /><br />#2. For the last several days, I've been playing a 4 tables online for hours a day. After sitting at this live game and not playing a hand for 15 minutes, I got very bored and loosened up (and worried about my image? I am an asshole). After loosen up early (and sober), my starting requirements just got looser through out the night.<br />Lesson #2 - When you are playing live, poker is going to be slow and boring compared to online play. The reason that you are playing live is because the game should be a lot looser and therefor easier to beat.<br /><br />#3. I was tired, drinking and smoking.<br />Lesson #3 - When you smoke your first cigarette, leave the game. You quit smoking and if you are smoking, there is something wrong with you head. (You are drunk and/or tired).<br /><br />Other points worth mentioning:<br />I was sucked out on the river for a $400 pot (runner, runner). This was probably around 10:30 and even though I was playing like shit, I was still in the game and this hand would have put me up $200. After I lost, I decided to buy back in because the game was good. 1/2 later the game dropped to 6 players, and I should have left... <em>but I was drinking...</em><br /><br />From now on:<br />- Play your game, don't worry about table image<br />- No drinking when you are playing - if you drink leave the game<br />- No smoking when you are playing - if you smoke leave the game<br />- Pay attention - read people and the hands instead of drinking and bullshitting<br />- If you are looking to go out, don't play poker.
